The Nebraska Water Center (NWC) is seeking a student intern to join its communications team this fall.
About the internship: This position will work closely with NWC staff to elevate the Nebraska Water Center through digital and print media and events. With guidance, this intern will work directly with the NWC Communications and Program Specialist to create and edit content, plan and execute events, and assist with opportunities to promote the Center.
Duties include:
- Writing, editing, and proofreading newsletter articles, website posts, and other written media sources
- Creating and executing social media strategies in conjunction with the NWC’s communication plan
- Planning and executing events, including promoting the events and assisting in the coordination of speakers
- Graphic design to support the above tasks, including digital and print media such as event flyers, postcards and mailers, social media posts, and newsletters
- Data management to support the Center’s outreach, engagement, and grant proposal efforts
Hours for the position are flexible and anticipated to be up to 20 hours a week during the semester.
About the candidate: The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, PR savvy, have excellent computer skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva), and be dependable and punctual. Candidates with an interest in water, natural resources, and agriculture and previous experience with communications/event coordination will be prioritized. Other desired skills are experience with promotion via social media platforms, excellent writing skills, and attention to detail.
Other requirements: The Nebraska Water Center is located on Nebraska Innovation Campus. Students must have a student permit to park on campus or utilize the campus bus or bicycle system.
Compensation: $16.00/hour
