Last week, Roric Paulman brought together growers, industry leaders, technology providers, researchers, startups and public-sector partners for Dirt, Data, Decisions in Sutherland, Nebraska.
What stood out was not one technology or presentation, but the breadth of expertise Roric brought together — and how consistently the conversations converged around five areas:
- Water management
- Precision nitrogen management
- Turning data into better decisions
- On-farm validation and technology adoption
- Building a connected agricultural innovation network
With 45% growers and 35% industry participants, the conversations stayed close to the questions that ultimately matter: Does the technology work under real farm conditions? Does it create measurable value? Can it be integrated into existing operations? And what will it take to move promising solutions from development to adoption?
The One Red Ag Data Bank & Grants Program also provided a look at how Nebraska can connect data, conservation, technology and producer incentives to support implementation of conservation practices to improve nitrogen, water management and soil health.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln was glad to support the event alongside industry partners and contribute to the conversations.
