On April 20, the Nebraska Water Center teamed up with Conservation Nebraska, an environmental education and advocacy organization, to host “Get to Know Your Water.” The one-hour virtual event drew 45 participants from around the state for discussions on understanding and measuring water quality in the state.
Dr. Dan Snow, director of the University of Nebraska’s Water Sciences Laboratory (WSL), kicked off the event with a presentation on “Groundwater and the Vadose Zone.” Following that, Alison Klein, science department chair at Kearney High School, delivered a talk on “Know Your Well Program and Water Education.” To conclude, Dr. Saptashati (Tania) Biswas, WSL’s research laboratory manager, led a virtual tour featuring the myriad instruments the lab uses to measure chemical properties and contaminants in water.
