Nebraska Water Center Director Chittaranjan Ray and DWFI Faculty Fellow Xin Qiao spoke with The Daily Iowan regarding University of Iowa (UI) research to develop technology for sustainable farming. UI researchers will develop smart sensor technology to measure soil temperature and moisture in farming areas.
The project will begin in rural Nebraska since farming practices in the state depend heavily on irrigation. Qiao said the Nebraska project will allow researchers to develop more data for the benefit of farmers.
