The Nebraska Water Center’s Water Current newsletter is now available online and in print. A collaboration between NWC and Colorado State University’s Colorado Water Center, the 32-page newsletter spotlights the Ogallala Water Coordinated Agriculture Project, or OWCAP.
The project is a USDA-NIFA funded multidisciplinary research and outreach project focused on helping to address issues related to groundwater declines (quantity and quality) and long-term agricultural sustainability in the High Plains region. The NWC has been one of nine academic institutions leading the project since its inception in 2016. The special edition of the Water Current reports on OWCAP’s research, outreach and partnership activities.
“We are excited to have a rich edition of our newsletter that celebrates the people and research that constitute OWCAP,” said NWC Director Dr. Chittaranjan Ray.
Overall, more than 70 university researchers, Extension specialists, students and post-docs – based at nine institutions and six hub agricultural experiment stations in six Ogallala states – comprise the regional team.
