Public Relations & Engagement Coordinator
Jesse Starita joined the Nebraska Water Center (NWC) in October 2018 to serve as the lead public relations and engagement coordinator for the NWC. He supervises the preparation of all NWC internal and external communications, including the Water Current newsletter and annual reports. Jesse elevates the NWC profile through numerous multimedia, events, and partnerships, coordinates and executes NWC outreach and represents the NWC to visitors and at regional activities. He also coordinates programs and collaborates with faculty, colleagues and students to grow impacts of research through education events and partnerships. Additionally, he manages the Water Advanced Research and Innovation (WARI) Fellowship, a program that enables research and capacity-building exchanges for Indian and American water researchers and scientists.
Previously, Jesse worked for 6 years in different roles at DWFI, including most recently as Education and Outreach Coordinator. He holds a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a master’s in arts from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. A longtime resident of Lincoln, he enjoys volunteering his time for youth basketball, music and cultural events and local environmental initiatives.
