Platte River Basin Science and Resource Management Symposium
October 14 and 15, 2009

The latest Platte River research and management efforts, including adaptive management, will be showcased during a Platte River symposium October 14 and 15, 2009 in Kearney, Nebraska. The Platte River Basin Science and Resource Management Symposium will examine research and management from the physical sciences to the human dimensions aspects of economics, sociology, law and policy. The entire stretch of the Platte River, including the North and South Platte Rivers, will be included. Anyone who does research or management work on the Platte will be invited to submit abstracts to be an oral or poster presenter. The event will open the afternoon of Wednesday, October 14 with tours on the Platte and will include an informal reception and dinner that evening. On Thursday, October 15 the Symposium will continue with a day of fast-paced presentations from researchers and managers. Posters will be up for viewing both days. The call for abstracts will be in early April, and registration will open in late July. Information will be posted at www.watercenter.unl.edu as it becomes available.
The Platte River Symposium is hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Water Center, the US Geological Survey Nebraska Water Science Center, the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program, and Headwaters Corporation.
